The Alps start at the end of the street. Here are seven road trips from Grenoble, from legendary passes to partner getaways — with the map, the stages and a downloadable GPX track. All that’s left is to pick the bike.
France’s biggest motorcycle-travel show takes place in Barcelonnette on 4, 5 and 6 September 2026: around a hundred exhibitors, test rides on the roads of the Ubaye, workshops and guided rides, free entry. The page gives the programme and the route to get there from Grenoble: two days over the Col de Parquetout, the Col du Noyer, the Champsaur and the Col de Vars, with a night in Embrun.

Five Chartreuse passes in 55 km — Vence, Palaquit, Porte, Cucheron and Granier —, the Guiers Vif valley up to the Cirque de Saint-Même and its limestone walls, then home over the Route des Petites Roches and the Saint-Hilaire plateau. Three viewpoints in half a day, a quarter of an hour from the shop: Fort du Saint-Eynard on its cliff above Grenoble, the alpine pastures of the Charmant Som, then the Col du Coq below the Dent de Crolles. 65 km, with time to spare for a coffee in Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse and every photo stop you want.

Three days in a loop from Grenoble into Italy and back, with no tolls: the Valbonnais and the Col du Noyer, the Izoard and the Casse Déserte, the Col Agnel at 2,744 m and the border, then Fenestrelle, Sestriere and the return over Mont Cenis. Ridden and GPS-recorded by us.
